Blended Learning Paediatric First Aid

Is this for you?

This course is for people working with young children and those working towards an early years educator qualification. You will benefit from having access to our E-Learning platform allowing you to study the theory elements in your own time, at your own pace, on a device of your choice (PC/Mac/iPad/Phone). This will need to be completed BEFORE attending the 1-day practical day where you will be able to get hands-on with the training equipment and have access to our dedicated paramedic first aid trainers. 


This includes:

  • people working in day nurseries
  • people working in private nursery schools
  • people working in pre-schools
  • people working in before and after school clubs for children in the early years age group
  • childminders
  • carers of children at home.

How long is this course?

This course combines E-Learning study & assessments and a 1-day face-to-face course with times of 09:00-16:30.


E-Learning content approximately 6 hours. 

What is covered during this course?

This course will cover the following:

  • Allergic reaction
  • Asthma
  • Bites and stings
  • Bone, joint and muscle injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Child and baby resuscitation (CPR)
  • Childhood conditions
  • Choking baby
  • Choking child
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Eye injuries
  • Foreign objects
  • Head injuries
  • Heat and cold extremes
  • Low blood sugar
  • Managing an emergency
  • Meningitis
  • Minor and severe bleeding
  • Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
  • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Spinal injuries
  • Unresponsive baby
  • Unresponsive child

How will I be assessed?

You will complete a multitude of questionnaires and assessments during your E-Learning which will need to be completed before your practical training day. 


During your practical training day, you will be continuously assessed by the trainer/assessor running the course with a written and practical exam. 

Do I get a certificate?

Yes! 

On successful completion of this course, you will receive your own ALS Med Ltd. B/L Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. 

You will also receive a First Aider pin badge and CPR Faceshield keyring.
