First Aid at Work Requalification
Is this for you?
This course is for people wishing to renew an existing, valid First Aid at Work certificate.
If your certificate has expired you are still able to attend this course, but the HSE recommends you attend the First Aid at Work (3-day course) if more than a month has elapsed since expiry. Please note that the requalification course is an intensive course with very little practice time and designed for people whose certificate is still in date. If you do decide to attend the requalification course you will need to work at the pace of the course.
How long is this course?
This course is a 2 day course with times of 09:00-16:30 each day.
What is covered during this course?
This course goes over everything you would have previously looked at in the First Aid at Work course. The content of this course includes:
- Adult CPR
- Allergic reaction
- Asthma
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Chest pains
- Choking adult
- Communication and casualty care
- Eye injuries
- Fainting
- Head injuries
- Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory-based)
- Defibrillator pad placement (theory-based)
- Low blood sugar
- Managing an emergency
- Minor and severe bleeding
- Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
- Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
- Seizures
- Shock
- Spinal injuries
- Stroke
- Unresponsive adult
How will I be assessed?
You will have a continuous assessment from the trainer/assessor running the course with a written and practical exam.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes!
On successful completion of this course, you will receive your own ALS Med Ltd. First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
You will also receive a First Aider pin badge and CPR Faceshield keyring.
